Looking Back at the ETC Conference

The Evolution of Technical Communications conference is history now – it is something that has already happened. We all hope that it will have an impact of some way – that what we and our guest presenters shared in front of a technical communicators audience – was valuable and enriching. We also hope that we will stay in touch and continue sharing in the future. Who knows – there may be another conference next year…

I can promise you that VMware Tech Pubs team will do everything possible to cover the conference in great detail so that those professionals or aspiring newbies in the community, who could not attend in person, have at least a chance to acquaint themselves with the aspects of technical communications that we’ve covered. Just give us some time.

I would like to sincerely thank our guest presenters from SAP Labs Jordan Stanchev, Snezhina Velcheva and Vanya Maneva as well as Ivan Terziev from Experian. Their contribution was solid and professional and we owe them a lot for the overall success of the conference.

I also want to express my gratitude to our audience – clever and open-minded people! I am absolutely confident that all presenters experienced the same pleasure in sharing their knowledge and ideas with you that I did! I would ask you to share your thoughts and impressions with us – that’s send us a few words to comment on the good and bad things, on what worked and what didn't.

I not only want, but badly need to thank my team: Zahari Tilev, Nedyalko Altanov, Yordan Ugrinov, Gergana Petrova, Branimira Dimitrova, Mariana Zdravkova, Margarita Staneva.

These guys really rock! They have put not only long hours, but passion and dedication to make this event a memorable one. I feel absolutely proud of them. And I’m also absolutely confident that each one of them is capable to achieve great things in their careers.

The same is true for Laura Bellamy, Stuart Clements and Niranjan Jahagirdar, who made the conference really international in representation, and who – although located in other VMware offices – acted as being what we really are: members of one global Techical Publications team.

In this long list I will include Kalin Ivanov from Tech Ops team in VMware and Ralitsa Tsoneva, our events specialist, for providing the technical and facilities support for the conference with ultimate professionalism.

Finally, the people who really embraced the idea and made it possible are Denise Kiser, director of Technical Publications in VMware and Diana Stefanova, regional director of VMware Bulgaria. I want to thank them not only for their support, but also for instilling confidence in the team – they believed we can do that even before we actually started believing ourselves.

By the end of this post, history will also record that I was openly emotional and grateful for the experience.
